Summary: Everyone returns to the ship after Out of Gas. Jayne and River while waiting for Mal to wake up.
Notes: While I was watching the last scene, right when Mal wakes up before anyone notices, we hear a bit of the conversations going on in the room. The one between Inara and Jayne pretty much goes: Inara: I think it's something he should see when he wakes up. Jayne: He's seen blood before. Lots of it. Well, part of this is me trying to explain what they're talking about. Unless they're actually talking about something that was explained in the episode, it which case, I feel like a total idiot. And either way, I think what I came up with is rather lame, so I guess it doesn't matter so much. This is quite possibly the worst Firefly fic I've written.

This one's been kicking around in my head for some time now- courtesy of kinkthatwinked over in fireflyslash who asked me about the backstory between Mal and Jayne in my 'verse, and how they got to where they are in the parts I've already written.

There will be a second story to compliment this- but it's only half finished at the moment. For now, here's the first story...

Author's Note: This is a piece I wrote for Ginni, who broke her arm, and I hope she gets better soon! My three words for the story were rain/raising hell/sorrow. I've never really tried Mal/Inara before, so I was a bit hesitant when writing it, but I think it turned out okay. A special nod goes to heartisbruised for coming up with the fic-a-thon idea and especially neroli66 for the beta and for giving me the idea for River and the dinosaurs.
