firefly_fanficI am just posting to let you guys know what's going on. It has been brought to my attention that somebody is posting all the stories from here over at serenitymovie.org without asking permission first. This person has created an account at that forum called "ff_fanfic" and is using it solely for posting the fic from this comm. They did not ask me if they could do this; I did not sanction it. However, I am going to be emailing the forum's maintainers and apprising them of the situation immediately.
I encourage you all to check the forum out and see if anything of yours has been posted without your permission. And if it has, please comment on this post with the name of the story and the url of the offending post. That way, if I need to, I can compile a list for the forum mods. Please do not email them yourselves, though. I know it's tempting, but if everyone emails them, they will have hundreds of emails all saying the same thing! Instead, please allow me to try and resolve this issue first. If I am unable to resolve it myself, I will let you all know right away so that you can take whatever action you deem appropriate.
Thank you, guys! I'm sorry this is happening, but I have faith that we'll be able to resolve it soon. I will post again here when I know more, so keep an eye out for updates.

Date: 2006-07-21 06:08 pm (UTC)And yes, isn't it crazy? There are almost FOUR HUNDRED posts by this person! And they would've had to copy the fic over and recode it. I mean, seriously, who has that kind of time on their hands? And why would they care? I am completely floored by this.
But trust me, if it was something I'd sanctioned, there would be warnings posted about it in the comm. userinfo, and it would be reflected in the rules. And there would be a way for all members to say, "No, I don't want that, thank you."

I guess I would be somewhat less annoyed if the posts also included the names of the original authors, but from the few I looked at, it doesn't look that way. So that makes it extra annoying! I'd love to know how someone set the whole thing up - and who it was, too. I mean, I don't know much about automatic feeds, but someone must set it up in the first place, right?
