Author's Note: This was somewhat belatedly inspired by Father's Day. I've never understood where authors get the "Captain Daddy" phrase from, and truthfully, sometimes I find it odd as hell. But I can see where Mal is accepted as River's father-figure, and I love the bond between Mal and River. And I'm positive that when River mentioned 'Daddy' coming to save her and Simon in Safe, that she meant Mal, and not that hun dan of a father of hers.
