Title: I can't make you love me (Short Piece)

Summary: Things have gotten worse for our Big Damn Heroes as they start losing more crew as time passes. River can't take any losses, especially about one who isn't dead, but just as lost to her as the rest of them and she feels like if she can't calm the voices in her head about him, she won't be able to stay in Serenity any longer.
Rating: NC-17
Characters: Mal and River mainly, Simon has a good part, Zoe has a couple of lines, but the others... well, there's a reason why they aren't present *wink*
Pairing: Mal/River
Warning: Very very angsty, as in you'll want to bury me at one point
Spoilers/Timeline: Set after the big damn movie, one year and nine months, I'd say lol

Author's Note: Big, huge, gigantic thank you to my new and wonderful beta, gwenfrewi72. I knew that 'unofficial' title would one day change into 'official', and by knew, I mean wished/hoped/wanted. I almost didn't finish writing this one, I got stuck on two occasions, and she pulled me right out with brilliant suggestions and ideas. And let's not forget the spelling? I love writing, I'm told I'm a good writer, but I write so fast (and I just get too into it) I am known to change a he into a she and such. So, I'm the luckiest girl in the world to have finally found a beta who is so amazing, puts my English to shame, and is so caring that she helps me expand my vocabulary in ways I only dreamed of. Thank you my darling beta! Also, thanks to American Idol, for having someone sing another song to make me think of Mal/River (Hell, salt and pepper makes me think of Mal and River lol). It's a song called "I can't make you love me" sung by Bonnie Raitt . It's country, yeah, I know, weird since I mostly am known to listen to rock, but I actually listen to anything, depends on lyrics and mood.
