Title: “A Woman’s Worth”

Disclaimer: Joss created these characters but left us with so many mysteries. So I’m playing with them, but I promise that no one’s paying me to do so.
Summary: Inara’s got secrets, past and future. Crooks and crannies in her psyche and strengths even she doesn’t know the meaning of yet. Picks up a few weeks post-Serenity.
Author’s Note: This fic incorporates deleted scenes on the DVD as well as some information from commentaries into its ‘verse. Generally, these instances will be noted. Regarding “Aberdeen”: We are never actually told the name of the planet where the Training House is. I have pieced together from the deleted scenes and the script that it is one of the planets closer to the Rim—not a Central Planet. For the purposes of this fic, I have chosen the planet “Aberdeen” (see: the Serenity Official Visual Companion, pg. 12 for a diagram of the planets in the Alliance).
Previously on “A Woman’s Worth”: Prologue. Of course she’s going to stay. She’s been knowing that in her bones for weeks now. But it means something new this time—it means she’s one of them.
