Disclaimer: I don't own Firefly/Serenity or any characters in them, it all belongs to Joss. The only things I get out of it are wonderful readers and comments.

Genre: Suspense/Light angst/Some drama?
Characters: Crew, but in terms of dialogue: Kaylee, River, Senator Tatsu, Mal and Simon.
Pairing: Mal/River (eventually) and a tiny hint of Kaylee/Simon.
Word count: 473 (According to MW)
Timeline: 3 months after the BDM
Summary: A senator speaks against the Miranda video and turns the blame table towards the Browncoats, making both Mal and Zoë's blood boil, but River and Simon's blood runs cold as they stare at the woman standing behind him, their mother.
Author's Note: Ah, the prompt/fic goes on. Don't ask me what I was smoking when I decided to write this (for the record, I don't smoke), because I have no idea where these ideas come from, I just write them. I know, I'm odd, but hey, I aim to entertain, and if I accomplish that, I'm happy. Place your mouse over the Italic Chinese to get the English translations.
