TITLE: If Words Unsaid Could Sway
RATING: NC-17
PAIRING: Mal/River
SUMMARY: During a long shore leave, Mal comes to term with the damage he's been doing.
NOTES: This story was inspired, to begin with, by the work of Willa Cather. I wanted a setting for Mal and River, one where they could interact differently. The first line, in particular, is lifted almost completely from My Antonia.
