That was gorgeously written and beautifully constructed. Bravo!

I love how the story is framed by Zoe's dreams, and that you didn't take the easy way out regarding pregnancy -- that Zoe is haunted by the one thing she knows would absolutely break her (i.e., raising their child or children alone). I think you've captured all the characters -- Zoe especially -- spot-on, and that's what helps make this heartbreaking: the very nature of Zoe's being is pragmatic and that's so at odds with her dreams.
