Notes/Warnings: AU for both. In my twisted mind, Beaver survived his fall from the hotel, and after being convicted at the trail was sent to a center for the criminally insane. Serenity never happened. Simon still rescued his sister from the Alliance and teamed up with the crew of Serenity but eventually realized that he could not give her all the help she needed.
